Christmas and NYE 2018

This holiday season was one of the best! I took off 3 days and because of how the holidays fell, I had 11 days off work in a row. It was glorious!
We spent a couple of days south with my family. I had a few days of lounging around at the house, then we had an epic NYE party, complete with photo booth, live music and door prizes! (we know how to throw a party! )

NYE at our house:

My bother played music all night, with this girlfriend singing.

Finished a few fluid paintings over my 'staycation'.

Started the #30daysofcreativepractice on the 1st. Below was the "layers" prompt day. I am exploring during this 30 day practice. trying new things; finding out what I like and what I don't like. Practicing lines and shapes and color combos. Honing in on my artistic style.
it's been fun so far and such a learning experience! I'm on day 7 today!

I hand painted and gold leafed ceramic ornaments this year for Christmas gifts. Everyone has loved them! I even gave a couple away as door prizes at our NYE party.

Photo of us and the kids before Christmas service at The Crossing.

Harrison, the girls and I at my cousins house on Christmas eve.

This 24x18" oil painting (+cold wax) was finished over the holidays, as well. This is going to friends of mine. It's called Beneath the Surface.

Whew! this post was a big 'catch-up'! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season!

Happy creating!

Canvas Corp Brand: January Challenge

Happy New Year, everyone! How was your holiday season? We had a great one and an amazing NYE party at our house. I will share those photos, along with more art I've been creating in the next post!

I decided to play along with CCB's January color challenge
I really loved their color choice so I created an art journal spread inspired by their challenge.  #ccbchallenge

My friend, Michelle, is on their design team this year. I am so proud of her! She is super talented! Check out her sites here.

Happy creating!

Goodbye 2017, hello 2018!

Hello all! I did my #bestnine over on IG the other day and I came to realize that I had a really eventful year! My boyfriend and I bought a house. I turned 40 and jumped out of a plane at 15k' over Vegas. I had some creative breakthroughs and we adopted a 6 yr old puppymill golden retriever.

2017, overall, was a very good and positive year for me. I let go of a lot of negative energy around me and set up boundaries in the process.

With that being said, I am really looking forward to 2018. There are so many things I want to accomplish. I want to have the most creative year to date! I am going to strive to create art on a regular basis. I know life is not going to always let this happen. But, I am hoping the week (s) that go by without creating art, other weeks will find me in the studio more than once!

I am excited to share with you, that I will be in Wanderlust's 2018 online art class! I am so blessed that my mom gifted this to me for an early Christmas present!

One of the benefits of "early bird" sign up, is access to some additional free videos. I had so much fun participating in Kasia's dynamic paper painting lesson! These fun papers will be used in future projects! (i.e. art journal pages, collages, etc)

Above are the various papers I started with and below are the middle and final stages of dynamic painting.

Here are some juicy close ups.

For the Wanderlust's year long journey, I will be creating in Dylusion's 8x8 Creative Journal

A couple of weeks ago (before I knew I'd be part of Wanderlust), I had ordered Dina Wakley's Media Journal.

I am going to use this journal to play in, do challenges (outside of Wanderlust) and repeat some of my fave lessons from Wanderlust.

I filled in the inner cover and first page this week. I participated in Dina Wakley's #showusyourMEdia challenge for December, called "HAPPY".

The right wing flips up to reveal journaling: “my happy is being in my studio listening to Miles Davis. My style is chaotic like jazz. When I’m creating, I am totally lost on the moment and everything else falls away”

Here are most of the products I used on this spread.

What is making you happy these days? Please share below, I would love to know!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

in other funny news...

I've been painting a lot lately. Starting on a new piece tonight. I've been missing my art journal, too. So, I want to make time for that in the next few days. I am also now taking requests for commissioned pieces in the styles you see below. Contact me for more information.

I gave Harrison one of his Christmas gifts. I painted this red/teal canvas for his office at work. It's called "Lost at Sea".  Happy to report that he loves it!

In other funny news: over Thanksgiving, my Dad did a hilarious Jeff Bridges impression. So much, that we all were dying laughing. So, I just HAD to get him a funny Christmas gift. My friend, Brian, has his own small shop called Coffee Mugs Never Lie. (his FB page) He can literally put anything you want on a coffee mug! Plus, it's totally inexpensive. Check him out when you have time!

Check back in next week for new paintings and to see what inspires me!

back in the saddle again

Hello, world! I'm back!

It's been almost 3 years since I last blogged. (2 years and 10 months to be exact)
I've decided to take it back up again. Basically, I needed a home base for my art projects. Here, you will find the latest and greatest of all things beth perry art. i.e. links to Instagram accounts, contact information and coming soon: ways to purchase my art.

As most of you know, I have around 12 years of scrapbooking experience. Recently, I've moved more into art journaling. I felt this need to be more artistic without the photos. I fell in love. It was this internal "push" that got me here. (I'm listening, God!) Once I knew I really wanted to focus on art again, things just kept falling in my lap. It was really amazing! The 'push' also led me to acrylic painting on canvas. It was truly awe-inspiring how doors have continued to open so quickly for me. I know that I am on the right path!

As of now, you can purchase prints of my art over at Society6.  2 of my prints are also available on iPhone cases. Fun, right?!

Peace of Mind; Parts 1&2

Right now, I do have some art journals for sale. They have a light wash background; perfect for adding more art, photos, scrapbooking, journaling or even leaving it as is! They are 6x4.5" and $25.00. Comment below or email me if you'd like one! You can choose if you'd rather have Happy (pinks, teals, yellows) or Moody (dark blue, grays, orange, and reds)  Obviously, each one will be different and unique.

These were inspired by a class I took from one of my favorite mixed media artists, Dina Wakley.

Here is one of my favorite art journal spreads. The right side turned into a print over at Society6 called Echoes.

I have a few goals for next year.

1. selling commissioned work direct
2. create videos (tutorials, behind the scenes, etc)
3. have an exhibition

I truly started this a few months ago with those above goals being in 2 years. But, with the overwhelmingly amount of support from my friends and family already; that lead time is quickly shortening. I am blown away by the amount of requests I currently have for custom pieces. I thank God for showing me this path and I thank YOU for your love and support.

So, let's take this creative journey together, shall we?!
